How Long Do They Last?

Conditions that affect the bone, including advanced periodontal disease, can cause them to loosen or fall out. Injury or trauma to the face can also damage your implants. If you brush and floss regularly and visit your dentist every six months, it's unlikely that you'll have any problems.

Keep in mind that implants only replace the tooth root, not the visible part of your tooth. Implants are covered with dentures, crowns, or bridges to complete your treatment, and these things will require regular care and perhaps occasional replacement. But this routine maintenance is non-surgical, and can easily be completed in a standard office visit.
